Milan Nestarec Troublemaker 2019: Kompleks og aromatisk nese, gul frukt, sitrus, appelsin, florale toner, hint av krydder og mineraler. Den er kompleks og fyldig på smak, god fruktighet og syre, lang og konsentrert utgang med et lett bitt. Også denne årgangen meget flott med en fin balanse og karakter, tåler mange år i kjelleren.
«Some things are born in perfect circumstances, some by accident, some out of necessity. UMAMI is the latter: I love food. Anything connected to food. Talking about food. I might actually talk more about food than I do about wine. But wine is actually food so all good I guess. Anyways, I adore Asian fare. Especially paired with a distinctly aromatic wine. One of those food-wine pairings that blow your mind and make you understand that sometimes 1+1 equals 3 and that wine and food go together like love and marriage (ugh.. whatever). So I had to create my own umami.» -Milan
Milan Nestarec Umami 2019: Aromatisk og innbydende nese, fruktig med syrlige frukttoner, epler, sitrus og et hint av urter og blomster. Den er fruktig og godt konsentrert på smak, meget flott syre, lang og lett mineralsk ettersmak. Nok en smakfull, syrefrisk og konsentrert vin fra Nestarec, flott nå men tåler også noen år i kjelleren.

Historien bak disse vinene
«I’m 200% positive that the most important thing is the person who makes the wine. It’s not about a varietal, or a famous village in a famous region – because even those wines can get the bad karma of being massacred in the cellar. It’s all about the name on the bottle. A name you can trust, because you know how the winemaker works and that it’s a style you enjoy. Hence the Nestarec white label, with my signature on it. (A tad prettier than IRL because my usual scribble is unreadable.) Together with Tereza, my graphic designer, we started taking out elements that weren’t essential – until only “Nestarec” and the name of the wine remained. A purist approach to both what’s in the bottle and on it. Because, as they say, perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
I don’t wanna look like a natural-born sage – it took me some time to get there. My journey, like many others, has been paved with gold engravings and curlicues, like on a fancy tombstone. “Nestarec, a wine for funerals”, as a friend of mine dubbed it back then. Oops. But I remember that period fondly – it’s a part of my evolution. No regrets, like in that famous Edith Piaf song.
From 2018 onwards, all the White Label wines are field blends of old vines grown on a single vineyard (or two neighboring plots). We chose our top vineyards to endow the wines with maximum longevity & genius loci, and use minimum skin contact (10% max and even that very rarely), in order to showcase this unique, beautiful material without a heavy orange-styled veil. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast in bigger old barrel from local oak or acacia wood, where it then lays undisturbed for 2+ years on its fine lees. No fining or filtration. The normal way, simply put.» -Milan
Milan Nestarec Podfuck 2019: Spennende nese med røde og mørke bær, bringebær, florale toner, røde frukter og urter. På smak er den konsentrert, fruktig, fin fylde og syre, lang og tørr utgang. En herlig ny årgang, enda mer fintunet og elegant, må smakes!
«I’m not much of a cocktail drinker, so I had to make a G&T of my own… And it become one of our signature wines. When the 2015 juice (our first edition of this wine) was fermenting, its aroma was super reminiscent of juniper berries and its slightly bitter aftertaste of tonic water. As a result, 1) everybody in the winery was constantly tasting it on barrel (I was afraid if there would even be some wine left for the outside world) 2) it earned “GinTonic” as a working title scribbled on the barrel–a name that has stuck with it ever since.» -Milan
Milan Nestarec G&T 2019: Frisk og innbydende nese med syrlige grønne frukter, urter, florale hint, lett krydderpreg. På smak er den syrefrisk med et fint preg av frukt, god fylde og en ettersmak med flott skall- og mineralpreg. En meget fin oransjevin, mange lag!
«This wine reflects our precious loess soil better than any other. Úlehle is a vineyard that’s new to us, and one of the oldest we have – it is a highly prized and time-tested site planted in the 1970s. I feel proud that we can farm here too, since 2019, albeit on less than a hectare. The loess gets mixed with a small amount of limestone there, which adds to the wine’s wit and typicity. Exactly what I’m looking for, especially in our «top-shelf» White Label range.
This wine captures the authentic soul of Gruner Veltliner from Bilovice loess marvelously. It’s a thank you to the land and the place. Integrity and roots. Humility. The name is a nod to its older Gruner sibling WTF, giving away that the key to this wine’s personality is not what happens in the cellar (flor), but in the vineyard (Bilovice).» -Milan
